Welcome

In 2022, 2nd MSI/SMS Joint Symposium will be hosted by National University Ireland (NUIG) from the 6th to the 8th of April. The symposium will bring together researchers from around the world for discussions on various microscopy themes such as advances in image analysis, solid-state physics, nanomedicine, as well as materials and biological microscopy applications. Both the Microscopy Society of Ireland (MSI) and b>Scotish Microscopy Society (SMS) would like to welcome microscopists to Galway. See the 2021 symposium poster for current details.

Scope

The annual symposium encompasses areas of the life, physical, and instrumental sciences.

Student participation in this symposium is highly encouraged. There is a monetary prize for the best student presentations under several categories. Historically, the symposium has provided an excellent forum for young researchers (particularly at postgraduate level) to present their data and findings at a conference. We will continue to foster this very strongly, as PhD students of very disparate backgrounds can engage in scientific debate.
