As we slowly leave the restrictions of the last few years behind, I am excited to be able to invite all those with an interest in microscopy to come together in Galway for our meeting - jointly run by the Microscopy Society of Ireland (MSI) and the Scottish Microscopy Society (SMS).
We encourage Postgraduate researchers – who may not have had a chance to attend a conference before - to attend and present their research, they will find a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
The venue – the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill - allows us the opportunity to bring people safely together to discuss all aspects of microscopy across the Life and Material Sciences (and the interesting spaces between).
The Microscopy Community is vital to many areas of research and both the MSI and SMS regard support and development of the utmost importance. To this end we will have an Early Career Researcher event and a Community Development panel discussion.
Come and join us! We look forward to meeting you in Galway.

Organising Committee Chair

The annual symposium encompasses areas of the life, physical, and instrumental sciences.
Student participation in this symposium is highly encouraged. There is a monetary prize for the best student presentations under several categories. Historically, the symposium has provided an excellent forum for young researchers (particularly at postgraduate level) to present their data and findings at a conference. We will continue to foster this very strongly, as PhD students of very disparate backgrounds can engage in scientific debate.
